Certifications and Professional Credentials

Accessible Living Atlanta’s home accessibility certifications help support safer, more thoughtful planning for aging-in-place renovations and mobility-focused home modifications.

Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS)

Accessible Living Atlanta is proud to hold the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) since 2006.

CAPS-trained professionals complete specialized education focused on designing and building modifications that help individuals age in place safely, including:

  • safer bathroom access and bathing solutions

  • improved home navigation and “open space” planning

  • entry and exit improvements for stability and safety

  • practical design choices that support long-term independence

Certified Environmental Access Consultant (C.E.A.C.) — VGM Live at Home

The Certified Environmental Access Consultant (C.E.A.C.) credential is administered by VGM Live at Home (LAH) and supports a deeper focus on environmental access — adapting the home environment to promote:

  • Independence

  • Safety

  • Functional ability

  • Improved daily living for physically challenged and aging individuals

Environmental access is about reducing barriers in the home (literal and practical), so the space works with the person, not against them.

Safety-First Home Accessibility — Backed by Training, Standards, and Real-World Experience

At Accessible Living Atlanta, our goal is simple: help people throughout the Greater Atlanta Area live in safe, user-friendly homes that fit their lifestyle. Our team brings 20+ years of hands-on construction and modification experience, and we pair that experience with specialized accessibility training so you can feel confident about both the plan and the workmanship.

Because when it comes to accessibility, the details matter — and the right credentials help ensure those details are handled correctly.

Why Certifications Matter

Accessibility modifications are not “one-size-fits-all.” They require an understanding of:

  • How mobility needs change over time

  • Safe movement and transfer zones (especially in bathrooms)

  • Designs that reduce fall risk and caregiver strain

  • Construction methods that protect the home’s beauty, functionality, and value

Our certifications reinforce our commitment to doing this work the right way — with planning, skill, and accountability.

Our Philosophy: Independence Without the Institutional Look

We place emphasis on open, usable spaces that support confident movement for individuals with limited mobility — while also making the home easier for a caregiver to support day-to-day needs. Our goal is to help people who want to remain in their own home do so with greater independence, safety, and functionality — without compromising beauty or comfort.

Put Our Credentials to Work for Your Home

Our certifications are not just letters — they represent training, standards, and safety-first planning. If you’re considering accessibility upgrades, we’ll walk you through options, assess your space, and recommend solutions that match your needs and home layout.
