About Us
Safer homes. More independence. Built beautifully — with decades of construction expertise behind every detail.
Accessible Living Atlanta was founded in May 2022 by Dennis Lippy and Trent Zumbrun, combining decades of construction and renovation experience with a focused mission: help people stay in the homes they love with more safety, comfort, and independence.
We create accessibility-focused home modifications that are practical and life-changing — without making your home feel institutional. Every solution is designed to blend naturally into your space, support real daily living, and give both clients and caregivers more peace of mind.
What We Build
1. Barrier-Free Showers, Walk-In Showers and Complete Bathroom Modifications
We install zero-clearance showers that reduce trip hazards and fall risk. These are ideal for wheelchairs, walkers, and anyone who wants safer, easier bathing — without sacrificing style.
2. Kitchen Modifications
If countertops and cabinets are too high, appliances are hard to reach, or sinks are inaccessible, we redesign kitchens for comfort, reach, and ease of use, including layout and functional adjustments tailored to the person using the space.
3. Vertical Platform and Ceiling Lifts, along with Home Elevators
When stairs or transfers become difficult, we help clients access more of their home safely.
-
Vertical platform lifts / home elevators support movement between floors
-
Ceiling lifts support safe, effortless transfers (for example: bed → wheelchair → shower)
4. Wider Doorways
We expand doorways and improve passage clearance so wheelchairs, walkers, and caregivers can move through the home more comfortably and safely.
5. ADA-Compliant Ramps
We design and install durable, ADA-compliant ramps customized to the home and the user — creating a safer, more confident way to enter and exit.
What Makes Our Work Different
We build for the client and the caregiver.
Safety is not only for the person with limited mobility. It also helps the person supporting them every day.
We focus on dignity and design.
Accessibility improvements should blend in, feel natural, and look like they belong in your home.
We think beyond today.
We design with practicality in mind, including long-term function and resale-friendly choices.
We simplify the process.
Clear communication, solid scheduling, and a team that respects your home from day one through final walkthrough.
Meet the Founders
Dennis Lippy
Dennis brings decades of construction leadership and a long-standing passion for accessibility-focused home modification.
He earned a BS in Construction Management from Eastern Kentucky University. Having worked with commercial and industrial clients since the mid ’80s, Dennis founded D.K. Lippy Construction Co. in 1995, bringing the same commercial-grade planning, precision, and attention to detail to every project. In 2006, Dennis recognized the growing need for home accessibility modifications for seniors and individuals with impaired mobility, and he pursued specialized training and solutions for aging-in-place needs.
Dennis was among the first contractors in Atlanta to earn the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation through the National Association of Home Builders. He later created HomeFree Home Modification, focused on helping clients remain at home safely and comfortably.
After selling both businesses in July 2019, Dennis returned to the work he cares about most: combining strong construction practices with meaningful accessibility improvements, because in accessibility work, the smallest details often make the biggest difference in safety and independence. That passion led to the launch of Accessible Living Atlanta in May 2022.
