Occupational Therapy
and Accessible Living

Cynthia Cindy Lourie, occupational therapist and accessibility planning specialist.

Cynthia “Cindy” Lourie, MS, OTR/L, ECHM, CAPS

Helping individuals maintain independence, safety, and confidence at home through thoughtful, personalized accessibility planning.

Occupational therapy home modifications help connect clinical insight with practical changes that make daily routines safer, easier, and more independent.

Cynthia “Cindy” Lourie is a licensed occupational therapist with over 30 years of experience helping individuals navigate changes in mobility, health, and daily function. She has worked across home health, inpatient, outpatient rehabilitation, and acute care settings, with a primary focus on supporting adults and older adults in maintaining independence.

At the core of Cindy’s work is a simple but powerful idea: the goal is not just to adapt a home—but to help people continue doing the everyday activities that matter most to them. Occupational therapy focuses on real life—how people move, function, and interact within their environment.

Cindy evaluates both the individual and their surroundings to understand how mobility challenges impact daily routines. From there, she develops practical, personalized strategies to improve safety, reduce risk, and maximize independence—whether someone is recovering from an injury, living with a physical challenge, or planning ahead for long-term accessibility.

As an accessibility specialist, Cindy brings a deep understanding of how the body moves within a space. Her approach goes beyond theory—she helps identify barriers that may not be obvious and creates solutions that support both the individual and the caregiver. Cindy joined EnABLE Home Solutions LLC in 2019 and became the sole owner in April 2023, continuing her commitment to helping individuals live more safely and function more confidently at home.

“To modify or adapt the environment is not to take away independence—but to maximize it.”

By combining clinical insight with design and build expertise, this partnership helps create environments that are safe, practical, and tailored to each individual’s needs.

This team-based approach is especially valuable for individuals with limited mobility, injury recovery needs, physical challenges, and those planning to remain in their homes long-term.

Depending on the recommendation, Accessible Living Atlanta may help with bathroom modifications, ramps and safe entry, indoor mobility and doorway updates, or kitchen modifications.
